On certain Mercedes-Benz C200 BLUE EFFICIENCY, C250 BLUE EFFICIENCY, C300 (platform W204) and GLK 250 4MATIC, GLK 220 CDI 4MATIC, GLK 300 4MATIC (platform X204) manufactured and assembled by Mercedes-Benz Viet Nam in the period from May 2011 to July 2015 in the affected list (according to affected vehicle list) that need to be recalled for free inspection and replacement of the front passenger airbag.
The air pump is a part of the airbag unit. It contains solid fuel that is burned in the event the airbag is activated. This process releases gas to inflate the airbag. On affected vehicles, the gas generator (supplied by TAKATA) may be manufactured with the risk of moisture ingress over time and under specific climatic conditions. In the event of an accident and the airbag system is activated, depending on the circumstances, the release of gas may create too much internal pressure and lead to the possibility of the gas generator bursting. In this case, this airbag would not develop its restraint effect and the occupants would be at a risk of injury due to separating parts of the gas generator.
Therefore, for affected vehicles (according to the attached list), customers need to take the car to the authorized dealers of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam Company to have the new airbag unit replaced (replacement part included gas generator).
Up to now, MBV has not received any reports related to the described fault profile related to the TAKATA airbag inflator occurring on our vehicle platforms. However, because the safety of our customers is our top priority. Therefore, we decided to conduct a recall of the affected vehicles to replace the affected airbag unit in order to minimize the risk to customers.

On vehicles Mercedes-Benz A170, A200 (platform 169), GL450 4MATIC, ML350 4MATIC (platform 164), R280, R300, R350, R500 4MATIC (platform 251), E350 (platform W212), C200 CGI ( platform W204) imported and distributed by MBV with a production period from 12/2004 to 02/2012 needs to be recalled to check and replace driver airbag & front passenger airbag according to Mercedes-Benz AG recall code 9196004 and 9196006.
Driver airbag and front passenger airbags are equipped on vehicles to help reduce the risk of injury to the head, neck, chest of the driver and front passenger when the car was hit from the front. The gas generator is part of the airbag, which contains solid fuel that is burned in the event the airbag is activated, this process releases gas that inflates the airbag.
On affected vehicles, the gas generator (supplied by TAKATA) may be manufactured with the risk of moisture ingress over time and under specifice climatic conditions. In the event that the vehicle is involved in an accident and the airbag system is activated, the release of inert gas may create too much internal pressure and lead to the possibility of the gas generator bursting, In this case, this airbag would not develop its restraint effect and the occupants would be at a risk of injury due to separating parts of the gas generator.
Up to now, MBV has not received any report related to the described fault profile related to TAKATA airbags occurring on platforms assembled by MBV. However, because the safety of our customers is our top priority. Therefore, we are recalling the affected vehicles to replace the affected airbag assembly in order to minimize the risk to customers.
Therefore, for affected vehicles (see attached list), we ask customers to ensure safety, customers need to bring vehicles to an authorized MBV dealer for inspection and repair free of charge for the above mentioned airbag units (replacement airbag includes the gas generator), the estimated time of repair is about 2 hours. The inflator is part of the airbag unit, which contains solid fuel that is burned in the event the airbag is activated, this process releases gas that inflates the airbag.
On affected vehicles, the gas generator (supplied by TAKATA) may be manufactured with the risk of moisture ingress over time and under specific climatic conditions. In the event that the vehicle is involved in an accident and the airbag system is activated, the release of gas may create too much internal pressure and lead to the possibility of the gas generator bursting, the airbag may not be effective. Use to limit the impact and debris of the air pump can cause injury to the occupants of the vehicle.
Up to now, MBV has not received any reports related to the described defect records related to TAKATA airbags occurring on the platforms imported and distributed by us. On certain Mercedes-Benz C200 vehicles (platform W205) manufactured and assembled by MBV in the period from December 2014 to February 2018 are in the affected list to be recalled to check and update new software for engine control unit free of charge, to optimize the operation of the alternator.
According to recall information from Mercedes-Benz AG, in affected vehicles, under specific operating and environmental conditions, the operating temperature of the individual diodes in the alternator's rectifier bridge may be exceeded and thus lead to possible damage to the diodes. If there is a certain combination of diodes that fail due to a short circuit, an impermissible current flow from the on-board electrical system battery through the alternator may occur. In this connection, the alternator may heat up to the extent that a fire cannot be ruled out. Therefore, we decided to conduct a recall of the affected vehicles to update the engine control unit with new software free of charge to optimize alternator operation for the affected vehicles as a precautionary measure.

According to the recall information from Mercedes-Benz AG, a bore in universal joint at the steering shaft under the steering wheel that may not correspond to the manufacturer's specifications may be installed on affected vehicles. the springs in the locking mechanism of the seat backrest of the third seat row may not have been installed in accordance with the specifications. According to recall information from Mercedes-Benz AG, certain Mercedes-Benz GL/ML-Class vehicles (platform 164) and R-Class (platform 251) with production period from 10/2005 to 11/2011 (according to attached list) imported and distributed by MBV. The brake booster housing can be leaked due to corrosion in the joint area after after a prolonged vehicle operating time and in combination with extensive exposure to water. In this case, the brake assist will decrease, resulting in the need to increase the brake pedal force more to decelerate the vehicle. This may be accompanied by hissing or airflow noises when applying the brake. In addition, in some cases, the corrosion is so severe that it can lead to damage to the mechanical mechanism inside the brake booster during heavy braking. In this very rare case, it would not be possible to decelerate the vehicle through the brakes. Therefore, there is a risk of an accident. The function of the handbrake (parking brake) is not affected by this problem.
Therefore, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam implemented a recall program to check and remedy the affected vehicles as a preventive measure. The drain hoses of the air conditioning system may not have been correctly installed in your vehicle. This would increase the risk of injury and accidents.

On certain Mercedes-Benz C300 (platform W206), S450, Maybach S680 4MATIC  (platform V223) and AMG G 63 (platform 463), GLC300 4MATIC (platform X253), GLE/GLS 450 4MATIC & GLE 53 4MATIC, Maybach GLS600 4MATIC  (platform X167) imported and distributed by MBV and on certain Mercedes-Benz C200, C300 (platform W206) and, GLC 200, GLC200/GLC300 4MATIC (platform X253) manufactured and assembled by MBV with production time from July/ 2021 to September 2022 (attached list) that need to be recalled to check and replace the fuel delivery module to fix the fault according to the recall campaign of Mercedes-Benz AG (Campaign code 4790205).

The fuel delivery module on affected vehicles unfortunately might not meet specifications. Therefore, the function of the fuel delivery module could be impaired under certain conditions and the fuel pump could be switched off. As a result, the vehicle could spontaneously lose propulsion. This could increase the risk of accident or injury on the roads. 

Therefore, we are recalling the affected vehicles to check and replace the fuel delivery module for the affected vehicles as a precautionary measure.

For affected vehicles, customers need to bring the car to the authorized dealers of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam nationwide to have it checked according to the manufacturer's technical instructions. The work required as part of the recall will of course be carried out free of charge, the repair time is about 1.5 hours.

According to the recall information from Mercedes-Benz AG, on some Mercedes-Benz S450 4MATIC vehicles (platform 223) imported by MBV according to the attached list, it is necessary to recall to check and fix the leak tightness in the firewall seal (recall number 6290102).

The firewall seal in your vehicle may unfortunately not satisfy the leak tightness requirements. In the event of exposure to large quantities of water, water may enter into the vehicle interior in this case and cause corrosion on the electrical contacts installed there and/or lead to short circuits or leakage currents. As a result, the function of the PreSafe system may be impaired, which could increase the risk of injury in the event of an accident. In addition, it may not be possible to restart a parked vehicle. As part of a recall, we will therefore install an additional seal for the firewall on your vehicle as a precautionary measure.

On certain Mercedes-Benz S450 vehicles (platform V223); GLS 450 4MATIC, Maybach GLS480 4MATIC (platform X167), AMG GT 53 (platform 290), V250 (platform 447) imported and distributed by MBV company and some Mercedes-Benz C200 (platform W206) and GLC 200 (platform 253) manufactured and assembled by MBV with production time from July/ 2021 to September 2022 (attached lists) that need to be recalled to check and replace the fuel delivery module to fix the fault according to the recall campaign of Mercedes-Benz AG (campaign code 4790205, 4790206, supplemented list of affected vehicles).

The fuel delivery module on affected vehicles unfortunately might not meet specifications. Therefore, the function of the fuel delivery module could be impaired under certain conditions and the fuel pump could be switched off. As a result, the vehicle could spontaneously lose propulsion. This could increase the risk of accident or injury on the roads. 

Therefore, we are recalling the affected vehicles to check and replace the fuel delivery module for the affected vehicles as a precautionary measure.

For affected vehicles, customers need to bring the car to the authorized dealers of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam nationwide to have it checked according to the manufacturer's technical instructions. The work required as part of the recall will of course be carried out free of charge, the repair time is about 1.5 hours.

To ensure customer’s interests, for the rights and safety for customers and accompanying passengers, when customers receive notices from authorized dealers of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam or via the information portalof Viet Nam Register or media, please contact an authorized dealer of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam to have it checked and repaired according to standards.

For the above-mentioned vehicles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz AG and imported into Vietnam (in the form of property transfer, diplomatic, personal or imported by other companies) subject to recall campaign announced by Mercedes-Benz AG, if required, the authorized dealers of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam Co., Ltd. will be ready to help to check and repair free of charge according to the recall campaign (if vehicle is affected by the recall of Mercedes-Benz AG).
