At our passenger car plants, we have already reduced solvent emissions to a very low level. There is further potential for reductions from commercial vehicles and major assemblies. At the plant in Gaggenau, the method employed to paint axles has proved twice as economical since 2009: the special material hardens under UV light in just 90 seconds instead of the usual 30 minutes at 80 degrees Celsius. This reduces emissions and CO2 output at the same time.
