Psychologist, auto mechanic, quick-response team, and angel all in one – a good description for a German Automobile Club (ADAC) tow truck driver. Carsten Lauer has done this job for the company Herborn & Kuehmichel - a subcontractor of the German Automobile Club - for over seven years. Included in the company’s line-up of 18 special vehicles is a 6-t Sprinter 616 CDI, whose job is to bring vehicles, insured under the ADAC plus scheme, home after being damaged far away from home.
The double cab offers room for six people plus driver. Both guests and drivers appreciate the spacious interior, comfortable seats and efficient climate control. Carsten can tell quite a few stories about how differently humans react to breakdowns and accidents. One older gentleman stands out in particular: "He was so excited that he gave me a blow by blow account of his rear end collision more than 20 times. In the end, it felt like I had had the accident myself." Happily, though, the Sprinter protects him against such an event with its extensive standard-fit safety features - ideal for an ADAC "yellow angel"
