After more than 3 months during which 11 qualifying rounds took place at 11 golf clubs nationwide, on 9 June 2007, 216 best golfers out of the 1800 competitors gathered at Long Thanh Golf Club, Dong Nai province to attend MercedesTrophy 2007 – Vietnam Final.

Just before the shotgun, Dr. Udo Loersch, General Director of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam said: “We are very delighted to see all qualifying rounds have been a great success, exceeding our expectation. The support from all golfers, golf clubs, Golf Association and partners, etc, is a great encouragement to us. With MercedesTrophy, I hope golf becomes more and more popular in Vietnam. In this moment, I wish all of you have a great golfing today. We are waiting to honour the owners of 7 tickets for the Asian Final in Australia”.

With large scale and being well-organized, MercedesTrophy 2007 – Vietnam Final on 9 June is really like a golf festival garthering all best golfers nationwide. Participants reach the highest number ever before, as this is the first time MercedesTrophy widely welcomes all golfers on a nation scale. There are totally 216 golfers, including 190 excellent golfers from 11 qualifying rounds and some VIP guests to join in this tournament.

“I have joined almost MercedesTrophy since its first launch. For 5 years, MercedesTrophy has consolidated its prestige as one of the the best golf tournaments. This is a chance for all golfers to practice and improve our skills. I practice every year to wait for the competition at the Vietnam Final.”- said Mr. Ha Duy Hung, Director of Hiep Tri Company, who has always got a chance to take part in all MercedesTrophy – Vietnam Final tournaments.

The final round also welcomes presence of two special golfers - Dr. Udo Loersch, General Director of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam and Mr. Andreas Binder, Sales and Marketing Director as “friendship” golfers, who do not compete for the awards.

There are 4 divisions, three for men and one for women:
• Division A (men): handicap 0 – 12
• Division B (men): handicap 13 – 20
• Division C (men): handicap 21 – 28
• Division D (women): handicap 0 – 36

To ensure the accuracy and fair play, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam and Long Thanh Golf Club request the confirmed handicap of all golfers by the golf club that they registed as members.


Count back Procedures:

Gross Prize: In case of tied point, the count back procedures shall be applied starting from hole 18

Net Prize: In case of tied point, the lowest handicape shall win. In the event of a further tie, the following count back system shall be applied until finding the winner,
- The back of 9 holes ( hole 10 – hole 18)
- The back of 6 holes ( hole 13 – hole 18)
- The back of 3 holes ( hole 16 – hole 18)
- Hole by hole starting backwards from hole 18.
