New World Bank President

visist project sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Vietnam

In a two day visit to Vietnam, new World Bank President, Mr. Robert B. Zoellick also comes by for a short stay at Hanoi Vocational Colleague, where the charity project - "Vocational Training for disadvantaged children of a wheelchair maintenance and repair workshop in Hanoi" funded by Mercedes-Benz Vietnam in Vietnam Innovation Day 2006 is implemented.

As stated in its name, the purpose of this project is to provide vocational training for disadvantaged children of a wheelchair maintenance and repair workshop conducted by Hanoi Disadvantaged Children Welfare Foundation in combination with Hanoi Vocational Colleague. The course has just been opened in last July.

Atteding this short meeting there was also the presence of Mr. Andreas Binder, Sales & Marketing Director of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam, who comes also to meet and talk directly to disadvantaged chidlren of the class. He said: “We are very delighted to welcome the new World Bank President in such a meaningfull context. Also we are happy to see that our sponsorship has become really benificial to disadvantaged children in Hanoi in particular and to the community in general”.

The Vietnam Innovation Day is a World Bank initiative, which provides start-up funds to local organizations to help them implement innovative development ideas for a better society. Mercedes-Benz Vietnam have given its sponsorship to the event continuously from 2003-2006. Projects sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Vietnam all have been put into practical use and proved to be of great benificials to the general community. In 2004 the “Tina Mini Fire Engine” project sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Vietnam was taken as a good example to be reported by World Bank Vietnam in New York.
