“Dream prices” to stimulate demand Based on market feedback from customers and dealers, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam has finally made a strategic decision at the beginning of 2007 at the time of prominent events (Vietnam joined WTO and was granted Permanent Normal Trade Relations by the US). This can be considered dream price for all car-lovers who want to own a luxury Mercedes-Benz.
“This is the first time Mercedes-Benz luxury car prices are back to the level of 2004, in which one saloon is even below USD 50,000.” , said Dr. Udo Loersch, General Director of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam. “Mercedes-Benz has always maintained a premium position in customer’s mind. Now we want to make luxury more affordable. In other words, we want to sell at the prices that customers want to buy immediately”, he said.
It’s the first time a Mercedes-Benz sedan cost less than 50,000USD, including taxes
Since tax increase in 2004, this is the first time a Mercedes-Benz sedan is sold at only USD49,900 including SCT and VAT. If excluding import duty, 50% SCT and 10% VAT, price of a C180K Classic is only around USD26,000, a very competitive price compared to the region & the world.
Continuous efforts to achieve cost efficiency With the aim to have more attractive prices for customers, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam management and staff have worked on a project to achieve cost efficiency throughtout the value chain, from import, assembly, stock to logistics and sales. The result is a record reduction of price to customers: USD15,900 USD highest and USD10,000 on average (excluding E200K 2007).
More volume expected, flexible production to meet demand “With the new prices, we expect to sell many more cars,” said Mr. Andreas Binder – Director Sales & Marketing of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam. “Therefore we want to avoid a shortage of supply.” In November 2006 the company launched the new E-class 2007 and this new luxury saloon was so hot that some customers had to wait 1-2 months for their vehicle delivery.
Adaptation to WTO With the event of Vietnam becoming official member of World Trade Organization (WTO) since January 11, 2007, local automobile industry takes a further step to the integration period with many difficulties & challenges. As Dr. Udo Loersch, MB Vietnam General Director, said in the launching ceremony of E-class 2007: “The economic environment is changing and we automakers are also renewing ourselves to adapt”.
Now Mercedes-Benz Vietnam makes this strategic but suitable decision to stimulate market demand. Moreover, to better serve its customers, the company plans to open within 1st quarter a new Autohaus dealer in Hanoi that meets global standards.
Special scheme for hotels, resorts and fleets On this occasion, MB Vietnam also has a special program for hotels, resorts and fleet operators for E-class and C-class. Apart from attractive prices from Mercedes-Benz, the cars will enjoy a special financing scheme by United Overseas Bank (UOB), with one of the best interest rates and lending ratios in the market.
