Mercedes-Benz Vietnam (MBV) today announces that despite current economic situation, the company in the first Quarter 2009 obtained positive sales results and is optimistic for the whole year growth plan of over 10% sales increase compared to 2008. In the first three months 2009, Mercedes-Benz sales reached 712 units totally, obtaining a year-on-year growth of 34 %. This is thanks to the successful contribution of the passenger vehicles - C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLS, SLK, ML, GL, R-Class, and the Sprinter minibuses. In March only, Mercedes-Benz sold 432 vehicles in total, an increase of nearly 200% compared to previous month, much higher the 70% average growth of total market. “The fact that many customers wanted to take good chance at suitable time to own their favourite models partly explain this good results,” said Dr. Udo Loersch, MBV General Director. Also, in the first months of 2009, the Government had good approaches to stimulate the whole economy by reduction of VAT, bank loan interest rates, etc. Now the Government is complementing with reduction of auto registration tax by 50% from 1st May 2009. “With our excellent product portfolio and strong brand presence in the market, we have achieved positive results in Q1 2009. We highly appreciate the Government measures for market stimulation that creates great consumer’s benefits and will further support our continued growth in the market,” added by Dr. Loersch. “The registration tax will be reduced by 50% from 1st May 2009 is good news for our customers. Those who want to register and drive a Mercedes in April already, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam will refund the difference in registration tax (from 21 April 2009),” Dr. Loersch said.
In fact, the efficient, eco-friendly 4 cylinder engines have become even more affordable from 1st April as of the new SCT level. The two Mercedes-Benz models, C200K Elegance and E200K Avantgarde of MBV can enjoy a lower SCT of 45% (previously: 50%). On top of that the new registration tax of 5% in HCM and 6% in Hanoi provide further benefits for customers to buy cars now.
The company also announced its 3.3 million USD investment in the production line for the all new GLK that is expected to hit the road in Vietnam from early June. This special SUV model that can be used as a luxury sedan of elegance in the city and at the same time can be converted into an aggressive off-roader in the mountain has received overwhelming positive feedback from customers. This promises a successful sales contribution to MBV for the whole plan of over 10% sales increase. |
