| | Mercedes-Benz dominates premium segment. |
9/1/2009, HCMC - Mercedes-Benz Vietnam announced today its sales results in 2008 with total sales volume of 2,119 vehicles (including CBU import cars), of which 978 luxury passenger cars were delivered to customers, an impressive growth of 70% compared with 2007. “Considering the tough market conditions in the second half of 2008 and many tax changes, this is a very good result. We see clearly that the Vietnamese market, especially luxury segment, still has potential to develop,” said Dr. Udo Loersch, General Director of the company. The C-class and E-class continue to dominate their premium segments. The top-of-the-line S-class also sold well. The SUV cars ML, GL and the 2-door sport coupe SLK were all in hot demand. Sales of Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles were affected by the slowdown of the tourism industry. The 16-seat Sprinter, still being the company’s best-selling vehicle, sold 1,141 vehicles, lower than 2007.
