The optional LED light package (standard for S 400 HYBRID, S 600 and S 65 AMG) gives the S-Class a distinctive look, emphasising its charismatic appeal by means of advanced LED technology.

Integrated on the left and right-hand sides of the bumper, the LED daytime driving lights with chrome surrounds highlight the innovative design of the S-Class and increase safety by helping other road users to see the Saloon more quickly.

The Intelligent Light System, integrated in the main headlamps, significantly enhances both safety and comfort. It automatically adjusts to different traffic situations, such as when cornering or driving on country roads or the motorway. In "country light" mode, the road surface is illuminated with a broader beam, while the motorway mode produces a significantly longer illumination range. The Intelligent Light system also features enhanced fog lamps as well as active light and cornering light functions.

Adaptive Highbeam Assist is a further component of the LED light package. It can control the headlamps and adjust the range of the dipped headlamps in line with the distance from illuminated oncoming vehicles or vehicles ahead. Adaptive Highbeam Assist automatically sets the optimum headlamp range (up to 300 m) for dipped headlamps to ensure that the driver can detect the layout of the road, pedestrians or critical situations more effectively and at an earlier stage. The S-class automatically provides optimum illumination in every situation.
