Comprising an air suspension and the Adaptive Damping System ADS, the R-Class delivers a smooth, refined drive. The systems automatically govern the effect of the shock absorbers at each wheel and adapt them to the current road, load and driving characteristics. This reduces roll and pitch movement, e.g. when cornering quickly or on poor road surfaces.

All models (except R 300 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and R 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC) are equipped with the Direct-Steer system. Its characteristic features include an extremely precise steering response that gives the driver an accurate feel for driving conditions. Mechanical adjustment of steering column height and length is standard with the system. The memory package also includes electrical steering column adjustment.
